What is MILO Fantails?

If you've got young girls looking to give football or futsal a go in a fun and safe environment, MILO Fantails is the programme for you!

MILO Fantails is a programme designed to attract new female players aged 4–12 years old to the beautiful game through sessions focused on helping girls make friends, having fun, improving their skills and being active through football.

Sessions will take place throughout the remainder of the year, and are now rolling out all across Aotearoa New Zealand.

Have some questions before your first MILO Fantails session? Learn more about what to expect here.

Principles of the MILO Fantails Programme

Boost Confidence

MILO Fantails sessions are a safe environment where girls are able to be themselves, try new things, and boost their confidence.

Fun and Enjoyment

Learning about football and futsal through fun and engaging activities is at the heart of every MILO Fantails session.

Develop Life Skills

MILO Fantails aims to help young people develop life skills such as respecting others, having a positive attitude, and overcoming challenges.

Friendships

MILO Fantails is a great place for young girls to make new friends and we want to help foster and grow these new relationships.

Female Role Models

Having female role models to look up to and aspire to will support young girls reaching their potential in sport and life.

Improve Skills & Movement

The programme gives opportunities for girls to move and play - exploring the 11+ Kids fundamental movements.

How much does it cost to attend a MILO Fantails session?

We've kept the fees as low as possible while still being able to continue the MILO Fantails sessions. Term by term, it can change.

My daughter is really nervous and has never played football before, can she attend Fantails?

Definitely! This programme is perfect for her. We believe that football is for everyone and want to ensure that every girl has an opportunity to take part and has a great experience. Get in touch with your hub and let them know how they can best support.

How long does a MILO Fantails session last?

Sessions last approx 45mins - 1 hour

Can she bring a friend to a MILO Fantail's session?

Absolutely! All hubs welcome new girls to participate and will offer free sessions for new players.

How do I book someone on to attend a MILO Fantails session?

Click here (Link coming soon) to register and fill out the form.

Is there an equivalent boys programme?

MILO Fantails was developed to target female participants as currently only 1 in 5 players playing football in NZ are female. We have over 400 clubs in NZ who offer NZF's Junior Framework and all of these clubs offer boys or mixed football, however only a small percentage offer a girls programme. If you have a young boy who would like to play, please contact your local federation or club to see what's on offer.

Papakura City FC delivers Boys Futsal sessions in a similar style.

What do you wear to a MILO Fantails session?

Comfortable clothes she can run around in. Non-marking sneakers for the futsal court

Who runs the MILO Fantails sessions?

All sessions are delivered by our super-friendly, NZF-qualified coaches. The welfare of your daughter is key, so we ensure that all MILO Fantails coaches are fully trained in health and safety, safeguarding and more.
