Girls and Women
Football & Futsal at Papakura City FC

The Girls & Women space at Papakura City FC is a safe, welcoming, and encouraging environment for players of all ages and abilities.

It’s a place where girls and women can enjoy football, build confidence, make friends, and develop both on and off the field.

For parents, it offers peace of mind knowing their child is part of a supportive club culture that values respect, inclusion, and personal growth. At PCFC, we’re proud to create a space where girls and women feel they belong and are supported every step of their football journey.

What's New in 2026?
The Whole of Football 2.0 plan will see the way football is played change slightly. Research undertaken by NZ Football shows that playing smaller formats of the game for longer significantly increases involvement in the game and touches on the ball for players, which accelerates skill development and better prepares participants for the transition to 11 vs 11 football.

Junior/Youth girls' competitions 2026
In 2026, NRF offers the following Junior/Youth girls' competitions:

Junior Girls

  • U10/11 Girls  (7v7 & 25-minute halves)

Girls 8&9
For girls turning 8 and 9
this year, changes under the new Whole of Football 2.0 plan mean these age groups in girls and mixed will be “in-house”, similar to our Kura Kicks & Small Whites Friday Night Football.

They will play the 5v5 format.

We are currently in discussions with NRF and local clubs about a “Southern Girls Club Hub” for this age group, where we will be working with other local clubs to run a local competition for our 8/9 Girls.
