Good Sports - Workshops

Every year, we aim to host a Pre-Season Sports Workshop for all parents, coaches, and managers.

The goal of this session is to come together as a community to discuss and learn how we can create a more positive environment for our players. We believe that by aligning our support, we help our athletes:

  • Develop their technical and social skills.

  • Grow in confidence both on and off the field.

  • Foster a lifelong participation in football.

We want to ensure that every adult involved in our club is equipped to provide the best possible experience for our players, ensuring they stay in the game for years to come.

Why Attend?

  • For Coaches: Align on player-centered development strategies.

  • For Managers: Learn how to foster a cohesive, supportive team culture.

  • For Parents: Understand how sideline behavior impacts player enjoyment and growth.

What is Good Sports?

Good Sports is a culture change initiative aiming to create positive sporting experiences for children by educating and supporting the key adult influencers in youth sport – in particular, parents.

Well aligned to Balance is Better, it recognises that supporting and educating adults is crucial to ensure Kiwi kids have the best chance of having positive sporting experiences and ultimately growing a lifelong love of sport.

Love Their Game

Love Their Game emphasises the importance of positive sideline support and its role in creating quality sport experiences for all involved, particularly young people.

61%

Almost two-thirds of recently surveyed parents, carers and supporters, said in the last 12 months they have witnessed poor sideline behaviour in young persons sport.

50%

of kids who play sports, stop at the age of 11. Poor Sideline Behaviour is a key contributor to this.

"Love Their Game is about turning good feelings into good behaviours and ensuring we’re all doing our bit to support our young people’s growth, belonging and future through sport and physical activity."
