Girls and Women's Football & Futsal at Papakura City FC
The Girls & Women’s Space at Papakura City FC is a safe, welcoming, and encouraging environment for players of all ages and abilities.
It’s a place where girls and women can enjoy football, build confidence, make friends, and develop both on and off the field.
For parents, it offers peace of mind knowing their child is part of a supportive club culture that values respect, inclusion, and personal growth. At PCFC, we’re proud to create a space where girls and women feel they belong and are supported every step of their football journey.
The Whole of Football 2.0 plan is changed up the formats (5v5, 7v7, 9v9,11v11) that the different age groups play in. Research undertaken by NZ Football shows that playing smaller formats of the game for longer significantly increases involvement in the game and touches on the ball for players which accelerates skill development, and better prepares participants for the transition to 11 vs 11 football a year later at the U14 age group.
In 2026, NRF offers the following junior girls competitions:
Junior Girls
Youth Girls
These are the competitions available to us.
For girls turning 8 and 9 this year changes under the new Whole of Football 2.0 plan mean these age groups in girls and mixed will be “in-house” so similar to our Kura Kicks & Small Whites Friday Night Football. They will play the 5v5 format. We are currently in discussions with NRF and local clubs about a “Southern Girls Club Hub” for this age group where we will be working with other local clubs to run a local competition for our 8/9 Girls.
With those competitions available to us, we are looking to have the following girls teams:

Milo Fantails - Girls Only
MILO Fantails is a programme designed to attract new female players aged 4–12 years old to the beautiful game through sessions focused on helping girls make friends, having fun, improving their skills, and being active through football.
What happens at a muster?
We’ll have a relaxed kick-around and some small games alongside the meet and greet so everyone gets a run — numbers depending, we may mix age groups to keep things fun and active.
If you have boots and shin pads, great — come wearing them. If not, just bring them along and see how you go. No gear yet? Totally fine — sneakers are perfect.
The muster isn’t compulsory, but please make sure you register for the season if you can’t attend so your player doesn’t miss out on a team.
There’s no need to register for the muster itself — just come along 🙂
