 Papakura City Football Academy

Papakura City FC is in its 51st year providing the people of our area with the opportunity to participate in an active lifestyle through Football.
We have been sucessful in delivering the participation side of football and in 2008 had over 900 people involved in our club through the winter junior, youth and senior grades in winter and summer social tournaments.
Realising the need to also provide a development programme for helping players within our area who show talent for our sport, Papakura City FC established the Papakura City Football Academy in 2009. The formation of a quality Football Academy , based as closely as possible to a professional environment, is seen as an important development strategy to prepare talented and committed individuals from our area and keep them in our area.
The Academy is only open to youth ages from10 to 19 years, both male and female and you do not have to be registered at Papakura City FC to attend. Talented players from all football clubs in our area are welcome.
The Academy is based at the McLennan Park and ulitises the Papakura City FC facilities and equipment.
The Academy and its coaching staff are under the guidance and control of The Academy's director Brian Derby. Brian a Scotsman who immigrated to New Zealand 5 years ago after 30 years of professional football experience in the UK and Europe.
Brian has the following qualifications, UEFA A licence, SFA Advanced Licence, FA Academy Managers Licence, FA youth Licence and FA Generic Tutor credentials. Currently one of the highest qualified coaches in New Zealand.
Brian has held coaching positions with Leeds United, Barnsley FC and Halifax Town FC, with roles including Director of Football, Youth Development Officer, Centre of Excellence Director, Academy Staff Coach, U/9-U/16 and U/19 Academy Coach and FA Coach Educator Devon FA, FA monitor for academies/ Centre of Excellence NW.
Brian is also New Zealands agent for First Pint USA, and is responsible for the identification of football talent in New Zealand for potential placement into USA Universities.
Together with Brian's leadership and coaching knowledge and qualified assistant coaching staff combined with the facilities of Papakura City FC, the Academy can offer your child the opportunity to enhance not only their football skills but also their social, physical and educational development.
